Who are you grateful for?
Here’s a little coaching tip for us today (one I needed to be reminded of so I picked it out especially for myself):
You’ll never satisfy an ungrateful person.
Of course you can try. But it can’t be done.
Conversely, a grateful person lives life gracefully. There is a smoothness to things in the life of a grateful man or woman.
Do you ever wonder if folks see you as a grateful person?
Grateful is a close cousin to the word thankful. We are thankful for how we feel when someone provides something for us. If you’re broken down on the side of the road and some kind person comes along to assist, we are thankful that they stopped and we are grateful to (or for) them and their kind humanity.
Not to geek out on syntax here - just illustrating the concept to guide the conversation back to the question: do you think others see you as grateful?
The better question - the coaching question - is this: Who are you grateful for in your life story? If you want a 2.0 question: who are the people around you in life right now for whom you’re truly grateful?
This needn’t be a long note of encouragement today, friends. Encouraging you to take a 3-minute gratitude retreat today and write down the names of some folks for whom you are legitimately grateful. You’ll likely have a creative idea of what you might do with that list after you do. (do it!)
If no one but you notice the change it makes in you, but YOU notice the change, then it’s a victory. Grateful people see the world gracefully, differently, creatively and full of potential and possibility. And that, friends, is the change we all need. Do it with regularity and you will change the world around you in ways that you probably never imagined.
He is no fool who trades that which he cannot keep for that which he cannot lose. (J.Elliot)
They can’t take away how you see the world. See it through the grace-filled eyes of the person you continue to blossom unto!
Grateful for you today.
Peace~
